Don't be fooled by phrases like the following:

100% Natural,
100% De Jalisco,
100% Destilado,
100% Mexicano,
100% Artesanal,
100% Sabor a Agave,
100% Envasado de Origen,
100% Proceso Artesanal,
100% Jalisciense,
100% Espiritu de Agave,
100% Reposado,
100% Añejado,
100% Nacional.


The original tequila label most be like this:

1. The word “Tequila” and only one of the next 2 legends:

100% puro de agave
100% de agave.


2. It must have the CRT initials according to the Regulatory Counsil of Tequila.
3. Check that the NOM initials are also on the label (NORMA OFICIAL MEXICANA) followed by the distiller authorization number.
4. It must have the % or alcohol volume (% Alc. Vol.) acording to the product grade.
5. It must read the net weight of tequila.
6. The phrases “ DOBLE DESTILACIÓN” or “ESPÍRITU DE AGAVE” don't mean anything, therefor they aren't proff of quality.
7. Any label with the word “TEQUILA” that doesn't have the phrases 100% de agave or100% puro de agave, is a MIXED Tequila, meaning that the distil is made with 51% of agave azul tequilana weber alcohol and the 49% left comes from other sugars.
